The Medtronic LF1823 LigaSure 5 mm blunt-tip open sealer-divider is a 23 cm bipolar electrosurgical instrument designed for vessel ligation, tissue-bundle sealing, dissection, and division during open surgery. Its double-action blunt jaws feature contoured tips for tissue manipulation and a nonstick nano-coating intended to reduce tissue sticking, eschar buildup, and interruptions for jaw cleaning. LigaSure technology seals arteries and veins up to and including 7 mm in diameter, as well as tissue bundles and lymphatics. The instrument incorporates an independent cutting mechanism, 180-degree shaft rotation, and hand or foot-switch activation for use across general, gynecologic, urologic, vascular, and thoracic procedures.
