Medtronic Parietex™ Flat Sheet Mesh

Parietex™ Flat sheet mesh comes in both 2D weaves (TEC) and 3D weaves (TET) designs.

The 2D weave is a lightweight, macroporous mesh with a design that is rigid, making it ideal for laparoscopic applications due to its handling properties.

The 3D weave is also a lightweight, macroporous mesh but has a design that provides softness. This 3D weave allows for compliance and isometric movement with the patient. Its macroporous nature provides optimal cell ingrowth.

All of Covidien's Parietex™ products are created from a macroporous polyester material whose properties invite healthy tissue integration and mesh compliance while reducing encapsulation.

The mesh portfolio from the former Covidien AutoSuture business is now part of Medtronic’s Hernia and Wound Management segment within the Surgical Operating Unit. This division offers a broad range of synthetic and biologic hernia repair meshes along with fixation devices and surgical accessories used in open and laparoscopic hernia repair.

Key products include:

• Parietex™ mesh family – a widely used line of polyester-based meshes, including Parietex™ Composite (PCO), Parietex™ ProGrip™ (self-gripping), and Parietex™ Hydrophilic meshes designed for tissue integration and ease of handling.
• Symbotex™ – a composite mesh featuring a bioabsorbable collagen barrier, designed for intraperitoneal placement in laparoscopic ventral hernia repair.
• ProGrip™ – self-fixating mesh that eliminates or reduces the need for additional fixation devices.
• Permacol™ – a biologic porcine dermal collagen implant for complex abdominal wall and soft tissue reconstruction.

Medtronic continues to evolve this portfolio with a focus on patient outcomes, surgeon preference, and procedure-specific solutions, building on the foundation established by AutoSuture and Covidien’s long-standing presence in hernia repair.
